When a great skiing friend of mine from Chamonix started a new venture to run guided trips around the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB), I asked do you need a website?  Unfortunately I had missed the boat and she had already commissioned someone to build it for her. Fortunately it was being built on WordPress.

One of the things about WordPress is that there are so many different ways of producing a site that looks fairly similar.

Kate got a beautiful website that looked fantastic, had exactly the words she wanted on each page and was very user friendly. All she needed to do was get it up on the right peoples browsers.

This is where I came in with a couple of hours input on basic SEO. What that means for the site pages, text, links and images. And then how to put together an adwords campaign that won’t cost a fortune and give meaningful results.

Kate went home with small but focused campaign for Google adwords and a whole heap of homework to do.

A Tip

With Adwords you can pay per click on certain phrases.  Say for example “TMB” or “Tour du Mont Blanc”.  Try doing the search and see what comes up?

A search for “TMB” gets Toulouse Metropole Basket on page one.  So you would be paying to be seen by a user looking for the Toulouse site.

Unless, you specify in the campaign to exclude Toulouse from the keywords.

Then it’s just a case of finding out how you put a focussed campaign together?
