Google promotes responsive websites

Mobile Friendly

In a nutshell if you want to get great results on organic searches on the web then you are gonna have to get your website user friendly for mobile devices.  If you don’t then your site will suffer.

As of 21st April 2015 Google new algorithms for Google search engines will demote websites which are not “Mobile Friendly“. So what does that mean for WordPress?

The simple answer is to Find a responsive theme and reconfigure your website now.

Here is a quick guide:

  • first off Backup your site and database
  • upgrade your WordPress installation to the latest version
  • upgrade your theme to the latest version
  • at this point it is worth testing your site for mobile friendliness using the link above
  • assuming your site fails the test search for new themes using “responsive layout” as the search term
  • find one you like and install it
  • reconfigure the theme until you are happy with it
  • retest your site again
